About the Madurai International Hockey Stadium
The stadium is a purpose-built hockey venue at the Race Course Complex, intended to support hockey development in southern India. Hockey India’s inauguration report records its opening on 22 November 2025, by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.
The FIH lists the stadium as a venue for the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Tamil Nadu 2025, held in Madurai and Chennai from 28 November to 10 December. The tournament brought international junior matches to the city and established the venue as part of Madurai’s hockey calendar.
The FIH venue listing gives this address: W4VP+CP2, Race Course Colony, TNHB Quaters, Ramaond Reserve Line, Madurai, Naganakulam, Tamil Nadu 625002, India. Use the venue name and address when checking directions. For another sports venue in the city, what to know about events and getting to MGR Race Course Stadium covers its location and access.
Checking event schedules and access
Event dates, entry arrangements and public access depend on the specific fixture, so confirm those details with the event organiser before setting out. The Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) runs a Government of Tamil Nadu online services portal that includes stadium reservations; reservation services do not by themselves confirm spectator access or ticketing for a match.
For current venue or event arrangements, check the official site before you go. The venue’s past tournament listings are not a guide to its regular opening hours or future fixtures.
How do you get to the venue?
Madurai International Hockey Stadium is in the Race Course Complex. The FIH venue address can help you identify the correct destination when arranging transport.
The available venue listing does not give public transport directions or event-day travel advisories. If you plan to travel on match day, confirm transport and access arrangements with the event organiser rather than assuming a particular route or service.
What to confirm before event day
Before leaving, verify that the event is taking place at this stadium, along with its start time, spectator entry arrangements and any ticket requirements. These details can differ by event, and an earlier tournament listing does not establish the arrangements for another match.
Check whether the event organiser has issued any access or travel instructions. The venue address is W4VP+CP2 in Madurai’s Race Course Complex, which provides a useful reference when confirming your destination.
Planning an overnight stay around a match
If you are arranging an overnight visit, settle the match-day travel plan after confirming the fixture and entry details. Madurai International Hockey Stadium is about 13 minutes by car from Meenakshi Sunshine Hotel. For airport arrivals, the guide to how to get from Madurai Airport to the hotel covers that leg.
Check the details for the event you plan to attend rather than assuming the arrangements are the same.
